Seguso Experience is the Honorable Mention at the XXV Compasso d’Oro, the ADI award recognized as the Nobel prize of the design world and born in 1954 from an idea of Gio Ponti. The Award Ceremony took place yesterday, June 20th, in Milan, in the Cortile della Rocchetta, at the Castello Sforzesco, conducted by RAINews 24 journalist Laura Squillaci and with many authorities present, including the President of ADI Luciano Galimberti, the President of the Jury, Francesco Trabucco, the President of the Lombardy Region Attilio Fontana and the President of Assarredo Claudio Feltrin. Among the public, the most authoritative names in international design.
This prestigious recognition is the first in Murano since 1991. The victory adds on to the already rich palmarès of Seguso Vetri d’Arte, the only one in Murano to boast a Compasso d’Oro and, thanks to the latter, four Honorable Mentions.
The strength of dreams is the ability to imagine what does not yet exist, it is the energy that permeates projects carried out to perfection, guided by a focused passion. Seguso Experience is the result of a research path that the brothers Pierpaolo and Gianluca Seguso have created to bring out the founding elements, the DNA of the productive / creative activity of Murano, putting people and emotions at the center. What is essential is not visible to the eye: Seguso Experience is a multi-sensory journey that gives visitors an experience and an artistic message first hand, keeping its flavor through a slow release of emotions. In an age where everything moves quickly, where everything needs immediate gratification, it is essential not to lose memory. The Seguso brothers wanted to imagine something that could transmit all this, but a new alchemy was needed, the combination of elements capable of transmitting an authentic message and of redesigning the model of relations between Art, Culture and Business, in order to realize a revolutionary fusion of languages: Art, Glass, Poetry and Emotions … The Dream …
The success of the Experience initiative, which requires access by appointment only, and after registering for a membership, is confirmed not only by the influx of visitors from all over the world, but also by being proposed as a team building moment for large companies, among many the Board of Directors of Cartier World, and presented as a successful case history in numerous publications.
“This award confirms the constant striving for innovation of our family” – says Gianluca Seguso, President of the family company that has its roots in 1397 – “and it particularly fills me with pride because it is not a recognition of the product but of our company philosophy, of the direction undertaken by Seguso Vetri d’Arte in communicating its values and, with them, the most authentic image of Murano.
Making design means designing innovation, betting and investing in ideas, believing that we can always do better and more. It is not easy to look for ways to change, but the Seguso Experience, an idea that with my brother Pierpaolo grew day by day, is the demonstration that, while respecting the tradition, we can undertake new ways of approaching the market, starting from cultural innovation to communicate to the world that in Murano we don’t just make glass, but we bring emotions to life through glass. This ability to astonish, that is unique to our island, must be cultivated and taught as a seed to be kept in the heart against mediocrity. ”
“The Mention rewards us for having created a coherent and authentic narrative that radiates as a model of communication that goes beyond business” – adds Pierpaolo Seguso, Designer and Creative Director -. “Seguso Experience is much more than a story of the path that glass follows within the furnace. We tried to draw emotions with all that we had available, starting from our passion: the Jury of the XXV Compasso d’Oro has recognized the uniqueness of a philosophy that goes beyond the ‘story telling’ and becomes ‘story living’, to transform every guest from a visitor into an ambassador, without asking for anything in return. The Compasso” – he continues – “is the oldest but above all the most authoritative recognition in the world, which in over 60 years has awarded the most innovative signatures of Italian design. We won it in 1954, at its first edition, with the ‘sommerso’ blue ruby vase, designed by the then Artistic Director Flavio Poli. Over the years three Honorable Mentions were added, always for the product. Today this new recognition confirms that the culture of the project, the Made in Italy that we represent in the world, is not a trademark to guarantee the production process, but the DNA that permeates our entire way of working.
